In reply to Being a Right-Wing Pundit Isn't What It Used to Be
Why is it whenever there's talk of a black conservative they automatically become "tokens"? I have a black conservative friend, a first-generation Haitian-American! I once had Ghanan neighbors who, though they had no political affiliation, were conservative because Ghana is a conservative society. They left their son to complete private high school in Africa before coming to the US for college because they were dreadfully afraid of exposing him to the inner-city black American high school culture of the NYC public school system they viewed as too lenient (liberal). Basically they feared he would start dressing and acting like an inner-city black youth by permissive teachers and social mores. Not all black people think Rev. Al is their spokesperson, especially recent or second generation black immigrants.

Being thrown overboard by CNN is a great career move, especially for a dim-witted, right-wing hack.

"at least she doesn't have to defend all those foaming-at-the-mouth teabaggers who hate her because she's black, right?"

They hate her because obviously she works for ACORN.

Hot & Black, why is she a Conservative?

@se7a7n7: You have to standout somehow I guess. As a Mexican-American I was considering joining the Republican Party so I'd be their token Mexican, and there'd be lots of talking-head opportunities to fill. But then I don't think the checks would pay for crying myself to sleep every night.

Also. Now when I read "ACORN" I picture a guy with a strong Boston-accent saying it followed by the same word being shrieked by a fobby Asian woman. Thank you Gawker.

The title of this post should actually be "Being a Minority Right-Wing Pundit Isn't What It Used to Be"

The conservatives/GOP has pretty much given up on the colored folk of america and their strategy of overt tokenism is probably hurting them more than it helps (if it ever did).

Very odd. Black conservative is THE ultimate cable news media niche.

What, you're black and you want to be a pundit and your views are representative of the vast majority of your fellow African Americans? Get the fuck out of here! Armstrong Williams needs a new beach house.

As my old mentor Christopher Hitchens once said, there's nothing conservatives like more than brown people fighting brown people. I think he was then referring to Dinesh D'Souza, who is now referred to in certain circles as "Distort D'Trutha." There's a cautionary tale in there somewhere, Amy Holmes.

Sometimes I swear black republican pundits only subscribe to those views so they can get more media time. After all... what's new about another black democrat... now a black republican... now thats just pushing the envelope!

Of course the idiots at Fox will eat it up because they feel it validates all their hatred for Obama. How much you want to bet they hire a slew of black conservative pundits after this. Because after all.. we know that 1 or 2 opinions from black people totally represent all black americans. ::eye roll::

I was watching the returns on Election Night and they showed one state by demographics and it said 91 percent of all registered black voters voted for Obama. All I could think of was: who the fuck are those other 9 percent? Remind me to never talk to them.

@JLynRedux: And if 91% of all registered white voters in a state had voted for McCain, would you also ask why the other 9% didn't - and then trash them for not doing so?
