@Smitros: Gribenes is like the chicken version of pork cracklings, but a bit funkier in execution. You can get it at the Second Avenue Deli, or at my grandmother's table; she is now residing in the Garden of Eden with my grandfather and God (in that order), so you'll have to die to get some. I recommend a trip to New York instead.

I've worked as a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization in a predominately Protestant, ruby-red state. The most civic-minded philanthropies I've dealt with are founded and administered by several prominent Jewish families. The Protestants (Baptists mostly) are shockingly disinterested in the well-being of the community. (I'm Roman Catholic).
