Flew back to the city through Laguardia the other day and GUESS what I saw!?! A couple of over-fed under-educated tourons (a cross between tourist and moron, of course!) happily shopping the airport shops while sporting that latest of accessories--THE SURGICAL MASK. Gag me.

You're making me wonder if the people I'm in grad school with should look more educated than they do. Which is not.

@skahammer: The under-educated part came about of two reasons--first, because it just flows so well with the rest of the comment; and second, because although they were wearing masks they were handling a wide variety of objects with their bare, gloveless hands. Perhaps I was unfairly maligning them and simply missed the hand sanitiser and/or trips to the restroom to scrub up. Then again, perhaps they were indulging in mask hysteria and not thinking it through all of the way.

@seyswho: Seriously. If they were THAT afraid of catching something then perhaps they would've been safer staying home, safely hidden under their bed.
