    @Mediahohoho: That was REAL music. Not like that noise you kids listen to nowadays. Jolson, Kate Smith, Fanny Brice...those were real artists. I don't know how you can listen to that REM Speedwagon and that Stone Temple Pumpkins anyway. Go fetch my Werther's Originals.

    I really like Dana Perino. She rose to replace Tony Snow in the midst of his illness. I think of her as the Leni Riefenstahl of the administration, and maybe her volunteering in Africa recently is a concession to the information she shilled.

    @momof3wildkids: To each their own; I'll not snark on what blows up the skirt of another.


    But I will say that, as a hetero guy, Ari here strikes me exactly the kind of guy who, when young, picked on enough smaller kids on the playground to finally pick one who fought back and bloodied his smug ugly nose, only to run home to his lawyer dad to bring a lawsuit against the family of the younger, smaller kid who kicked his ass.

    @econodave and @mediahohoho it is the fact I suspect he is extremely EARNEST. THAT is a man with something to prove.


    On a separate note, my now 8 year old daughter would watch him, fascinated, in her exersaucer for at least 15 minutes so I could shower. Perhaps that is why I breath a bit harder... he gave me 15 minutes of peace per dayl

    @momof3wildkids: See, this is where you and I part ways a bit. I just sit my 13-month-old down in front of Olbermann and watch in amusement as he learns to raise his eyebrows and snark on conservatives when I need a few minutes.


    As for Fleischer, well, those guys "with something to prove" usually feel inadequate in ways that are not immediately discernible to the rest of the world. And they're usually correct.

    @gawkimo: Thing is, though, the people who have the power to effect such a system are the ones whose status wouldn't change — they're already rich, and would stay that way. The people who are too stupid to realize that they would be essentially consigning themselves to serfdom in a Feudalistic revival are too scared of The Other to realize which camp they actually occupy.
