    I think the town cars and 4-star hotels are gone for some time. I think the model for the serious stuff developed by talkingpointsmemo.com and for the fun stuff by the Gawker empire are vast improvements and bode well for the future

    50 years ago, the trade had highborn WASP men speaking as the voice of god, and lowborn WASP men twiddling away on the other stuff

    There's less of both now, and that's not a bad thing

    @Lysergic Asset: You should watch Tru Blood. It's very raunchy, and Michelle Forbes comes along in Season Two as a nutty goddess. But George Hamilton was pretty good. Hopefully they won't do a Twilight inspired remake of Love at First Bite, full of tweens.

    I used to LOVE 99X. It's a now defunct station but back in the day it was the only place you could listen to real alternative and rock music. It was replaced with one of those bland Top 40 stations. Sigh. And Ari Fleisher? Seriously? Was she that desperate?

    @heywhat: ETA: I just figured out who she's married to! She's Jimmy Baron's wife. I loved his morning show with Toucher and Leslie Fram. I remember one of the running jokes on the show was how wild and loose she used to be back in the day. She frequently called in to the show to discuss embarrassing things about their marriage. Ahh, the good old days.

    @ShawnP: The first thing I thought was she had to do Fleischer because Reed wouldn't be interested in her. But I see her book claims he had a "soft spot for the ladies."
