yeah, you all just keep on talking about how awesome brookl -- er, sorry, "bklyn" (ugh...) -- and manhattan are, while those of us living dirt cheap out in queens stay quiet and pray you don't notice us.

Or perhaps everyone is volunteering so that they can eat the meals!

Also, I guess it's been a while since I looked at the cover of Abbey Road. Which one is Ringo again?

Yeah, I actually do really love living in Brooklyn and you get more space for your money. It's not all an inferiority complex FYI. There are 2 million of us.

When living in a studio apartment isn't like living in your bedroom two doors down from mom, without the free food and laundry, but still paying upwards of $1500 a month…then, maybe, I'll think there's something good about Manhattan.

In ye old south we call "studio" apartments "efficiencies" and this basically means you cook on a hotplate and share a bathroom with a drunk across the hall. It took several years to explain the difference in concept to my mother who spent much of my youth trying to convince me to move home because, "Really, what's the difference? You can have one of those Futon-thingies in your room at home."

I'm sure the rise in food-based volunteerism has absolutely NOTHING to do with Joan Rivers winning Celebrity Apprentice last night. Psshaw.

If New York is like other expensive cities, housing values may be plummeting, but prices aren't. If all the "bubble" blogs are correct, that's because owners aren't willing or able to lower sales prices or rents, and they end up not selling or leaving rentals empty instead of giving up on the crazy-inflated prices they've come to expect.

It will be a little cute to watch all the Midwesterners who have been all "OMG Brooklyn is awesome I would never live in Manhattan" for the last few years come pouring into the city. But, mostly, I think outer borough residents belong in outer boroughs.

Wow, awesome! There is a silver lining! I mean, sure, the actual poor aren't getting by, in fact they're probably suffering and losing their jobs (I guess!), but they never had much to begin with anyway and as long as they don't riot or anything (and they're probably all too stoned stand up anyway) we don't really have to worry our pretty little heads about them, now do we? Think of the APARTMENTS! Priorities, people!

    (Sorry.)

@if_i_only_had_a_heart: Exactly! The thinking was like, "if enough of us say it is cooler to live in Brooklyn often and loud enough, maybe we can make it be true!" But, sadly, they couldn't.
