    You know, as a Mexican, the tizzy some Latino groups have been getting in over the lack of Latino appointments has been bothering me.


    For the most part, Obama has been appointing highly qualified people, and I, for one, don't care what their gender or ethnic make-up is.

    @Pope John Peeps II: Here, here! I just read an editorial in newspaper by a Latino writer who was complaining that there aren't enough "brown" faces being appointed. Huh? Obama is quite a nice shade of brown, and an Obama presidency is a step forward for all ethnic minorities.

    @Squirrelwars: I am so tired of the "brown" thing. I'm Latina and I'm not brown. Does that mean I don't count if something happens and all of a sudden I'm the only Latina in the world, and a presidential cabinet desperately needs a token Latino? Because I think I'd represent pretty well. My first order of business would be to make the plantain the national vegetable. (It's a vegetable, right?)

    Well, it's an honest question -- is there anyone he could appoint that you would not be irritated by?


    Most of the people he's picked so far are pretty conservative (by my terms, anyway), so it's not as though he's going out of his way to specifically to alienate the right.

    @ElvisWorley: He says that? Aren't at least half the people of Mexican decent "Native American" (if we're talking all the Americas, not just what is now the USA)? Aztecs and Incans and Mayans etc. etc. were all over the place before Spain, France etc. moved in.

    Bill Richardson dropped out of the primary and promptly grew an Al Gore loser beard. It was kinda gross, so I hoped he'd shave it for this, his coronation day. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Horribly wrong:



    Is that a neck goiter, Bill? Please, use our tax money to have some of that sucked out.
