    Newsweek's LA writer Tara Weingarten has long been known in the biz for taking fab travel junkets, unbeknownst to the brass. Their London writer Nick Foulkes is famous for doing the same--in fact, the FT stopped using him because he only wrote about brands who gave him freebies. I suspect that Newsweek's HQ's policy is a bit like the military: don't ask, don't tell. You know, no one really says, "Where's that three day trip to the Santa Barbara spa?" when expenses come in.

    maybe was one of the rosenthals who said he didnt care if ny times reporters were screwing elephants just as long as they were not covering the circus. same standards oughta apply. #thrillist
