One significant difference between Dragons' Den UK & Shark Tank is that on ST, Mark Burnett Productions & ABC will make a percentage of any revenue generated from the investments. I cannot speak for the other countries' versions of DD, but this is definitely true of ST and is a blip on the closing credits. #sharktank

I enjoy this show, but I still prefer the British version, "Dragon's Den," which is broadcast on BBC America. (If anyone has video of the original Japanese format -- or the Russian, Nigerian, or Afghani versions, for that matter -- I'd love to see it.)

@TedSez: I didn't know there was a British Dragon's Den. There's a Canadian version that also stars Kevin O'Leary and Robert Herjavek. It's very good but I've never seen Shark Tank.

@mexicola: Yeah the canadian one is good. The british one is good. The American one will be the great american tradition of taking something fabulous from the commonwealth and tarting it up like an ageing whore stripping to john phillip souza music. (ex. Kitchen Nightmares) #sharktank

@Pope John Peeps II: There was an awful American show kind of like this a few years ago, in which the inventors all had sob stories and were eliminated one by one each week. But they've kept this one pretty close to the original -- it's all about whether or not the business seems like a good investment. And the bickering between the investors can be pretty funny. #sharktank

@TedSez: I remember that show--American Inventor, it was called. It was only on for a couple of seasons. Simon Cowell had a piece of it, too, as a producer. #sharktank

@TedSez: Yah, I love the Dragon's Den and I cannot believe Americans, or even Canadians, can do it justice. Is the UK version of the Apprentice, with 'Surallan' also on BBC USA? Also recommended.
Though the only real success I've ever seen come out of the Dragon's Den has been that Notting Hill guy's 'Reggae Reggae Hot Sauce.'
I don't think he even got funding from the Dragons, but within weeks it seemed Sainsbury's was stocking his jerk sauce. #sharktank
