Isn't slurring or speaking with deliberately poor enunciation considered a way for a POW to communicate to their command that they aren't actually brainwashed and do not agree with what they're saying; that they are pacifying their captors and going along with their demands?
@FormerEnglishMajor: I'm assuming you're joking, but if not, the Irish with light hair and eyes are descendents of Vikings, who did all manner of raping and pillaging and a little settling. You know, those pure-blooded Swedes and Finns Brian is so enthusiastic about.
People, please leave scientific terms and their usage to the professionals unless you have been counseled by science professionals.
Here's a freebie. We do not EVER use the term 'pure' or 'unpure' when discussing genetic heritage, it's homogenous and heterogeneous. Now, doesn't that sound better? We study Scandinavian populations for inherent risk for diseases because they have a homogeneous population due to bottleneck effect that occurred sometime during migration pattern from Africa. This makes it easier to separate inherent risk from environmental risk.
See, this is what happens when you don't pay attention in your science class in high school and opted for Introduction to Astronomy to fulfill your science requirement in college rather than bum it with the science geeks.
Jesus, when my nine year old gives me an insincere apology after he screws-up, at least he puts a little effort into it.
Plus he doesn't slur his words like he has a mouthful of Brazil nuts.
@phlox✔: He didn't want to sound too sincere, because he knows the army of Swedish Übermensch might be watching, and boy will he be in trouble for backtracking once they inevitably come to power.
This isn't well-known, but Brian Kilmeade was a long-time model for legendary potter Burlon Craig. I think this one captures Kilmeade's air of quiet intelligence quite well:
i'm kinda creeped out by the weird crunching sound they added every time she takes a bite. i guess "crispy gristle n' tendon burger" didn't test as well.
Hey, speaking of Padma Lakshmi, she won't be on Top Chef Masters tonight. But we're gonna have a commenter live-blog anyway. Tonight at 10 Eastern. Here on Gawker.
