Hmm, why not just put The Bachelor on indefinite hold and replace it with two hours of close ups of bulges? I'd watch that over most ABC programming any day.

I keep thinking this column is an execution and then I remember that it's not. But for the two seconds it takes me to make the realization I get sooooo excited about the prospect of witnessing a long-awaited execution. But then I do the math and I get so sad.

The pygmy hippo is one of the great underrated zoo animals. The National Zoo in DC has one, and it's a shame there aren't more to keep it company.

Apparently they live singly or only in pairs, and they breed well in captivity, unlike a great many other animals.

I don't think my co-op would let us keep any, and the Smitrodog, at 16 pounds, might freak out.

Part of the problem faced by zoo breeding, though, is maintaining genetic diversity.
