Since a bunch of you seem to work for MTVN, maybe some of you know people who work for MSLO*? I just sent them a resume and I just want it not to go straight into the circular file.
*shut up, I have loved Martha Stewart since I was 7 years old.

nope. they tried that with mtv2 and it doesn't work. mtv's demo eats up the hills and shit programming of that ilk. it's a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless.

By the by, Sumner will still be celebrating his 102nd this year with a ruby studded cake and more hot young model/7 diamond whores than one man could ever need. So if you're in the Hamptons, fuck off or we will release the rabid guard peacocks on you and your young family.

Sincerely,
Bob.

Not sure where you heard that but I worked at MTVN for a while not too long ago and have never been treated better.

currently work for them and i feel like i'm treated pretty well. though this assessment is subject to change if the rumored layoffs materialize.
they had a well-deserved bad rep for their tendency to keep people employed full-time for years while categorizing them as "freelance," thus denying them the benefits that usually accompany many years of full-time work. but this was resolved, as a search of gawker's archives will demonstrate.

Yes, I'd heard about that. Was fortunate to be a 'permanent' employee during my tenure there, but less so years back, working for another big media company. That company lost a huge class action lawsuit over its (ab)use of temps but I missed out on the resulting compensation for fear of jeopardizing my future status there. While I have very positive memories of MTVN I am beside myself with glee whenever I hear any negative news about Company #2.

Entertainment jobs can be rough, but Viacom definitely has a record of not being the greatest employers. I've heard similar things about the Times.

Any entertainment companies that you know of have a record of being good employers? (No, Google is not an entertainment company.) Because some days this consulting thing gets kinda old...
