American's most powerful corrupt gossip column today passes along the moving tale of a celebrity couple supporting each other's projects:

WE HEAR... THAT Bobby Flay's wife, Stephanie March, brought along her cast mates from NBC's "Convictions" to Flay's Bar Americain on West 52nd Street to launch his latest project, a reality show tentatively titled "The Next Food Network Star," which starts airing next month.

Well, except that it's actually called The Next Food Network Star and its second season had its finale last week. Clearly a certain chef hasn't been comping Richard Johnson nearly enough lately.

To be filed under things we never knew we wanted to know but still find ourselves strangely intrigued by:

• Bobby Flay claims to buy no prepared or packaged foods for his home. We're skeptical.
• Paulina Porizkova says she keeps her freezer stocked with Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. We're skeptical.
• And Ed Koch simultaneously buys for his apartment health-food-sounding "67% Buttery Spread" and butter croissants. Which sounds exactly right for an alleged Democrat who these days supports only Republicans.

Food voyeurism is strangely satisfying.
