    @lobstr: Actually, it was done by Wolff Olins -- the crap-mongers who bought us the 2012 London Olympics logo and the blurry-looking NYC logo (why the city decided to hire a British firm over any of the dozens of equally-qualified ones in NYC is still a mystery to me).

    The only upside is that Aol probably paid through the nose -- which will sink it faster.

    @sweetpickles: Ah-ha, but therein lies the beauty (putting on my marketing voice) -- when you leave the door open, anyone can come in. By not defining who Aol is, you leave it open for the individual to make their own definition and see their reflection in Aol...

    @meechybee: Yeah. Everyone seems to be trying that branding approach lately. The brand is YOU. I don't see the point in doing that here if you're not going to redirect them to your content or somehow try to get the message out as to what service you provide. This is very much the new Pepsi logo.
