Another Reality TV Contestant Accused of Murder, But There's a Twist! |

I realize that you work the night shift, but I hope you remember that this means you sleep during the day.
Also, whether you intended this or not, the comment about Ms. Lee is worthy of Tucker Max at his most cringe-inducing. Would her death be more tragic if she appeared in "Eyes Wide Shut" and "Gosford Park?"

I do a lot of tedious work at nights and have for quite a while now, work that oftentimes has me waiting for things to finish, time that I use to peruse this side of the internet until my attention has to revert back to these tedious manual processes. I used to love Gawker's night blogging because it was totally different from the day side of stuff, but carried the same sort of irreverence and genial "aw fuck" attitude that I've come to know over the last several years as a reader, and since I finally emerged from reclusiveness at the start of summer to become a more (I dare say) serious commenter. But this flippant way of coming across while retelling absolutely terrible news, of exploiting the exploited and then afterward critiquing the exploitation, is tiring and trite. You're terrible at this Andrew, and you've just caused me to finally give up and reread shit on Slate while at work and give my ad-bound eyes to them rather than continue to hope for a rebound. The Titanic finally sank, damnit.
For the record, I take full responsibility for having continued to read your posts after having had my intelligence insulted weeks ago. If I had half a brain, I would've left at "you go girl," but you know, I just really thought something else would happen with the night posts. I really am disappointed.

Andrew: you focus on the novelty aspect, and attempt, ham-handedly, to sensationalize the alleged murderer. Your complete dismissal of the victim is reprehensible. You devote one and one-half sentences to her, reducing her life to "appeared in such classics as ..." This is the worst possible kind of exploitation; the trivializing of a horrible act and what must have been a terrible death.
There is no possible excuse for the final paragraph. It shows incredible insensitivity---summarizing a story in which the victim is tortured and killed with a flippant "run because they will kill you" is not journalism. It is, at best, a juvenile display and a misguided and inept attempt to replicate the tone of other Gawker posts. You failed and should be ashamed.
I too will no longer visit this site during the night.

Most writers worth their salt try to disguise how much they deeply despise women, Andrew. Try harder, sweetheart. For your sake, for ours.

Shit. Sorry. Got it.
