The McKibbin Lofts, long a home (squat?) to the many artists, musicians, and vagrants who tumble through the crazy ol' Big Apple, has been issued a partial vacate order, slapped coldly on its front door by the Department of Buildings last Friday.
Next time someone tries to tell you New York City isn't Real America, you remind them: 1 World Trade Center is 1,776 feet tall, man. Ain't that America? We love our country so much, in fact, that a new skyscraper — Earth's tallest residential building! — will top out one foot lower in patriotic deference.

It's difficult to believe but One World Trade Center, the main building of the new World Trade Center complex is now built up to the 52nd story. It's now halfway to it's ultimate goal of 1,776 feet above Lower Manhattan.

It's the New York Times new-ish headquarters and the American Institute of Architects has declared it the most unattractive in the city, more so than a T.G.I. Friday's and a Trump tower. Really? We're not so sure about that.
Tall buildings have always been a symbol for national pride and financial dominance. However, it takes a lot to not curl up like a baby lemur when looking out from this high.
