    Penn and Teller's Bullshit! did an episode on life coaching, and needless to say it was both sad and hilarious. The best ones are the ones who claim that an angel who lives inside of them is the one who's REALLY giving you life advice. Because if it's divinely inspired, you're more likely to fork over the cash!

    These days I'm working in direct marketing and I swear, 90% of these "gurus" all have a story about how "15 years ago I was bankrupt and living on food stamps and completely hopeless. If I can turn my life around and make millions, SO CAN YOU!"

    It's one of the oldest sales pitches around.
