She did school them on Neil Diamond. As a consequence, I will note here that I will never again publicly question Rachel's knowledge... of Neil Diamond.

@ninety_nine: I did enjoy the fact that several commenters accused her of not knowing the difference between Neil Diamond and Neil Young without bothering to google any of the lyrics, which would immediately have brought up several Neil Diamond results. Whoops.

@Lucky: I like Rachel and everything, but clearly the Neil Diamond song is talking about the famous steamboat and though I found her piece amusing, I'm still not sure how the lyrics relate to the Duke boys.

@Magister: I agree with you, but it wasn't really my point; I was thinking more along the lines that had they even followed the link that she provided in the article they wouldn't have been making those baseless accusations that she didn't know the difference between the two Neils. And that one was repeated by several people. If you're (general, not you specifically) going to criticize her article, I think that's fine, but at least have your own shit straight.

@Lucky: If you watch the Mediaite webshow from the other day, everybody was expecting the theme from The Jeffersons, but she chose to end it with a song from Primal Scream and now she's referencing a deep cut from Neil Diamond. So, if nothing else, perhaps we've learned that Ms Sklar is "eclectic".

I'm a Steve and I'm getting a kick out of this blog post. But seriously, though: no, America-Steve relations are probably irrevocably damaged. We Steves will now retire to our sovereign country of Stevia and begin an industrial complex solely devoted to your nuclear annihilation. Our dear leader, Steve Jong-Il, has declared this the path to enlightenment.

Oh, for the love of Pete, Times Square haters of Gawker, give it a rest. Yes, it is irksome and crowded. Big deal, that's city life, genius. There also amazing things there.

While Mr. Van Der Molen is basking in the neon of the Toys R Us sign lazily puffing a Capri, he is blissfully unaware that the KLM flight he was supposed to depart on is now aloft over Times Square itself.

Seriously, a trip back to EWR during a business day + TSA line + customs bullshit + hour before check-in is not a good equation stacked against four fucking hours. What cabbie told him he could make it to Times Square and back with plenty of time to spare? a resourceful one!

@lobstr: Eh, it's not so bad. Jersey Transit from EWR into Penn Station takes about an hour, so that's two hours in Times Square.

And as bad as Times Square is, it's better than 4 hours at an airport, or three in downtown Newark.

@Harry Pelotas: One hour from EWR to Penn Station, 2 hours of lounging around, one hour back = 4 hrs.. what about customs arrival bullshit, TSA line, check-in ? He'd have a half hour tops.. just enough time to be accosted by the angry black jews..

Times Square is a nexus of awful. I can't imagine actually wanting to drink coffee or read a book in the middle of it. Call me crazy, but dense crowds of tourists, chain restaurants, and buildings plastered with ads isn't my idea of a nice place.
