    Seems they based GG Aaron on real life "gallerist" Aaron Rose who was most often described as slimey.

    @maevemealone: i'm so glad you brought that up. i've been meaning to ask why no one has talked to the real aaron rose, founder of alleged gallery, about this. i vaguely knew him years ago, and he was far from slimy. that gallery was really important in bringing attention to a whole group of artists who are now considered pretty well established. alleged is online now: [www.allegedpress.com]

    @withapologies: Before I expanded the story, an artist friend was looking over my shoulder at Gawker and screaming OMG Aaron Rose IS slimey! Click on it! Click on it! Click! Naturally he was disappointed this was about GG. He was around back then and I wasn't so perhaps the real Aaron Rose knocked over his beer or something.

    Aw, who CARES? I mean, I know typing that comment defeats the purpose of everything here but GG is not worthy of this much dissection. It just isn't. Or maybe that's the point? That it is so hollow, empty, and lacking in any exciting qualities that to analyze and critique it so, is precisely what is thrilling about it? I'm sorry if I come off sounding douchey or whatever, but it totally baffles me how much hype this show gets from people I think should know better. But who am I to say? I watched it for a WHOLE SEASON.


    BRING BACK AARON SPELLING PRODUCED MELODRAMAS!!!! DIG HIM UP IF YOU HAVE TO!!!

    For further awkwardness, watch Conan's interview with Jessica Szohr from this past week (it's on Hulu). I wish someone would interview the actor who plays Aaron and ask what it's like to play such a detestable character.

    I hate him. And I love his Dad and his Blair-jewifyingness. Her eating the bagel and lox made me laugh out loud. Also, is it me or did Rufus suddenly get sort of hot and sexy when he got all angry at Lily. You know you're old when you watch a high-school soap and have a crush on the Dad. sigh...

    Wait. I did not know this. Gossip Girl is based on a series of books? That blows my mind. I just thought it came to be in a primordial stew of Cosmo Girl articles, Bratz Dolls, and an EZ Bake Oven.

    By the way, has anyone walked through the young adult section at barnes and noble lately. IT IS TERRIFYING. Gossip Girl is only the beginning.


    And yes, i love Gossip Girl, but I seriously dread the day when my daughter reads these kinds of books and even fiction isn't an escape from the body and status wars.
