Once again, Gawker falls short of the real story...

As more than a few folks around town are aware, this guy was providing more than just back-up singing services for Carly, if you catch my drift. Hence, her intense interest in securing his release (there, more drift for ya).

Sure, he may be out of jail, but getting a pardon by Bush is gonna kill his street cred. Was it worth it, Forte?

the most important element of this story is that an unidentified stranger handed forte the liquid coke immediately before he got on the plan and told forte it was medicine for a sick child at a hospital near his destination and if he didn't bring it on board the child would die

I had something similar happen to me. I was approached by a clown in the terminal in Bogata, Columbia. He told me that there was a poor and sick Columbian kid in NYC who needed these special ballons for his birthday party. Once I arrived in JKF terminal, things did not go well.@The King of the Puppy Bears:

@Motoko Kusanagi: Yeah, right: "Here's a briefcase. Can you, um, take this briefcase on a plane. Yeah, it's, uh, medicine for a sick child."

I believe in de-criminalization of drugs, but there is a difference between a going to jail for small time vending or using and carrying a briefcase full of coke on a plane because somebody handed it to you and said it was medicine. Having been to southern Colombia, I assure you that the drug trade is ruining that country. It fucks up people in shitty situations at both ends: the campesinos in Colombia and the addicts in the US. It's the middlemen like Forte that reap the windfall. Fuck him and fuck Bush, too.

But, and it's a big one, Mumia does have dreads. It's a tough call.

He hangs w/the kid of Carly Simon and James Taylor. Technically he's pardoning a rapper, making Bush seem (in his head) to be hip and a man of the people. But, in reality, well, Carly Simon and James Taylor! You know Bush heard nothing past that.

I spoke with Forte a couple of times in Aubette right before the bust. I was so disappointed in him but he's a really great guy.
