    Jared Kushner's charming and no fool. So I wonder why he's rubbishing the Observer's editorial traditions quite so publicly. It could be that he learned from his father that's how people are managed (even journalists). Or maybe he tried the softly-softly approach and grew tired of it as the paper's losses worsened. The trashing of Kaplan's Observer could just possibly be a deliberate attempt to shock the newspaper's staff out of old habits.

    Is it just me or did the actual PAPER get thinner this week? I don't mean as in fewer pages, I mean as in onion skin style pressed pulp. All that's left is a skeleton staff with the busiest employee selling legal notices.

    I used to love the Observer. Well-written, if not meaty stories. Now it's a glorified Hamptons social rag. I still receive it because I already paid for my subscription, but now I just go straight to the crossword puzzle.

    Cheating in the 80's must have been so much easier, no emails, cellphones etc to get you in trouble. And the excuses, much more plausilble: "I have to go return some videotapes." Now who can argue with that. Remember those late fees?

    "I'm happy for him when he is at the office working late." Wow. That sounds like a relationship made in heaven. I suspect the divorce lawyers are already lining up for when these two get married.
