I'm very interested in this idea of pardoning dead people. Does it mean that Preston Bush is going to be pardoned for war profiteering after all these years (not to mention financially supporting the Nazi party and the German government well into 1943). Have his pathetic descendants not suffered enough?

Well, whether it was for an ally or not is a moot point.

He did spy, and he did so for a nuclear nation. And he wasn't convicted of treason because he took a plea deal. Let's not misrepresent the facts here.

Jonathan Pollard's sentence for spying for an ally was more excessive than other spies for Russia, Iran, etc. He has served enough time in prison for his crime and should be released. Enough already.

And you know, you may want to re-read my comment because no where did I say what he did was "ok"...in fact, I called what he did a crime...which is what it was...my problem is that his sentence is excessive. Get it?

Pollard was never charged, indicted, or convicted of treason. Indeed, the federal prosecutor recommended that he "only a substantial number of years in prison." Jonathan Pollard is the only person in the history of the United States to receive a life sentence for spying for an American ally.

As it turned out, Pollard actually did spy for Russia. Sy Hersh has the facts.
