This is my question though--the standard question to ask, usually, I think: Why? If Mancow is a right wing, torture-loving, Cheney/Bush/Gonzalez apologist why FAKE the waterboarding to then proclaim it absolutely is torture, worse than drowning, etc. etc.? The only thing he can do is alienate his base. What's his endgame? Until that becomes clear, I'm going to reserve judgment.
So, basically, if I wanted to waterboard myself I could lay in my bathtub and turn the faucet on? Because I do that sometimes when I'm drunk and I've yet to admit to myself why I keep drinking.
Well at least we're not talking about whether it's torture or not anymore. I guess we know the answer to that. The discussion has turned to DEGREES of torture. Hang Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld!
@TittiBarr: Who isn't? A friend of mine told me last week that if I thought waterboarding was torture I didn't know what torture was. This from a woman who graduated from high school, got married, had a kid, and was a stay-at-home mom until the kid was 15 (coupla years ago). Where in that history does her torture expertise come from?
(My personal feeling about having babies and then raising them aside.)
@kiyoshimartinez: It's like I said...watching the Mancow vid I sort of thought, "Hmmm...that doesn't look so bad." But then rewatching the Hitchens video wants me to have nothing to do with it at all.
Looking at the two side by side? and i think your whole face HAS to be covered doesn't it? it looked like he kept his mouth shut but the dude stopped long enough for him to breath out of his nose as well.
@Pesti-Esti: No...I accidentally posted it for a minute...meant to put it in draft and accidentally hit publish...wasn't quite finished with it yet. It'll be up in a few...sorry bout that.
I knew we hadn't seen the last of that truly mesmerizing and chilling Hitchens clip.
Now it highlights (by critique, I mean) everything that was shallow and cowardly about the eight years of GWB. Got to give the Hitch points on this one.
Well, Mancow is in showbiz, isn't he? And it is called show "business." I guess we will have to follow the money, that is, what specific benefit will he wring out of this that he couldn't have achieved with other means? I think it would be particularly low for him to have chosen waterboarding for general publicity purposes, but it's topical and it certainly got a lot of attention.

Aww -- they didn't have a chance. With all the Web 3.0 types in the Writing category?
And face it, the Times really has some kind of a lock with that "T" Magazine shit.
