    McCain's ties to Khalidi actually go all the way back to 1993, when McCain, as Chairman of the International Republican Institute, donated more than $500,000 to Khalidi's organization for polling of Palestinians. So, they might not want to delve too deeply into this.

    I'm friends with several people who have views that are extreme and ridiculous.


    Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg could not be more ideological opposites, but both have publicly stated that they are very close friends.


    One more example - James Carville and Mary Matlin. Just because you're friends (or married) doesn't mean that you are converting to the other's views...


    I find it weird that we're applying that logic to Obama...that you can only be friends with people who are like-minded because we'll just assume you are regardless of if its true.

    @JinxyMcDeath: I couldn't agree more that 2 people can be close without sharing the same views on every ideology. It's funny though, because if this was a tape of McCain and Khalidi it seems like it would be much less of an issue. It seems like yet another attempt to play into people inherent fears of Obama.
