The Myrtle Beach Sun News was ordered to reveal any information they had about an anonymous commenter to their paper's website.
They complied, then it appears the McClatchy-owned paper did their own investigation of the email address in their possession (they may have just googled, but haven't said) , linking it to a local businessman and former Myrtle Beach Mayor.
There's several angles to this story;
By all accounts, the commenter's comments were demonstrably false and the commenter (who went by the name "Elmer Fudd") is (was) the President of an organization which competes with the one he allegedly defamed;
And once again, a court has ordered information on an anonymous commenter revealed and after complying with the judge's ruling, thus meeting the requirements of their privacy policy, the newspaper conducted their own investigation into someone who participated in their forums and printed the results.

I tried to edit to clarify, but my time had expired -- the only reason that I've pointed toward my own headlines-based blog, which has little commentary beyond the ABCs is because no single Sun News link seems to lay out the whole story in succession.
I hope you understand.

Explosive among ornaments injures child
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
Updated: 12/07/2009 08:49:10 AM EST
WEST HAVEN -- A 7-year-old boy looking at a dead relative's Christmas ornaments was injured when a firework exploded near his face, police said.
Police spokesman Martin Garcia said the boy is hospitalized with facial injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening. The child's name and condition haven't been released.

Nick really is a spy running a cog in the engine of an international propaganda machine?
[cityfile.com]
Ok, now a few things are starting to make sense. He started as an economist and his dad was an economist. Economists are often spies and vice versa. He puttered around eastern europe after Oxford... QED and fiddle dee dee.
The hungarian and israeli connections are becoming much clearer now. (Does he party with Arianna and the Soros boys too?) Also clearer: why Gawker has never done a post about Vivi Nevo.
Was the First Tuesday deal just a way to move some money and make a splash? Yazam gives Nick and Julie Meyer and friends cash and stock which makes it look like a huge deal, giving everyone great street cred. Then Yazam goes premeditated kerplooie? Was it like $49 Million in stock and $1M cash? Stock in what? Whose cash?
Is Phil Garfinkle all wrapped up in the Croak and Swagger world too? He certainly hangs out in VA and DC a lot and he's now at a company that does "Risk Management"

Sounds all very spyish/defensish.

Caroline and Ernst haven't been together since September? Eh, doesn't matter anyway, Caroline is a true heir apparent to the Eurotrash Las Vegas of Europe, and he's not a real prince -- just uses that as his last name. (Queen Elizabeth thinks their titles are real enough though:
"Her husband's family titles ceased to be recognized by the Weimar Republic and subsequently by the German republic, after World War I, along with all royal and noble German titles. Additionally, the Kingdom of Hanover has not existed since being annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866.
Her husband is, however, entitled by German law to use "Prince of Hanover" as his surname (i.e. Ernst August Prince of Hanover), so the Princess is likewise permitted to call herself "Princess of Hanover" — but as a surname, not as a royal title. Neither she nor her husband has royal rank in modern Germany as Prince or Princess of Hanover, though Monaco recognizes her German royal title and her style as a Royal Highness.
Nonetheless, on 11 January 1999, shortly before Caroline and Ernst's wedding, his distant cousin Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom issued this Order-in-Council, "My Lords, I do hereby declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between His Royal Highness Prince Ernst August Albert of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg and Her Serene Highness Princess Caroline Louise Marguerite of Monaco...".
Without the Royal Assent, the marriage would have been void in Britain, where the groom's family owned substantial property, because Ernst August is subject to the Royal Marriages Act 1772. Likewise, the Monégasque court officially notified France of Caroline's contemplated marriage to Prince Ernst August and received assurance that there was no objection, in compliance with Article 2 of the 1918 Franco-Monégasque Treaty.")
Maybe you guys can cover Albert's global fornicating? Or Charlotte's "just kill me now" beauty? Too many golfers, too few royals. Maybe do the DARPA ponzi scheme thing and offer $10k to anyone who gets you photos of Ernst diddling the chambermaid? Be more like Bud from the Wall Street movie.

Oh my. It's almost as if they knew. Just like it was almost as if Angelo Mozilo knew to cash in his $500B before the microwaved turkey blew. Like almost as if Jerry Brown's sister and Henry Cisneros knew, when they bailed out of Countrywide.
Almost as if John Paulson knew when he made that big bet with Lloyd's of London and Friends that the mortgage market was going to blow up.
