What I want to know is how do people like Beck with no education, no qualifications, no morality and no sense get to positions of influence? Maybe it's because his audience is even less educated, less moral and more stupid than he is. Does he even know what a slave owner is? It's probably not a good idea to get all of your information about the pre-Civil War south from 'Gone With the Wind'. This man obviously missed grade 12 history and probably all of grade 12. Ignorance is obviously very blissful for Beck. And very lucrative. #glennbeck

He doesn't think that real unemployment rate in Detroit hovering between 38-50% has more to do with a dependence on government aid than some plot by a secret organization, lead by a janitors union (SEIU) and community activists (ACORN)?

This man is fucking nuts.

Maybe the reason they are dependent on government aid is because there aren't any jobs in Detroit. There aren't any jobs in the highly white suburbs of Warren or Pontiac or Auburn Hills either.

Does he know that people in those communities are depending on food stamps and welfare checks? Does he know that people who used to design, engineer, and manufacture transmissions, engines, airbags and computer chips - people with double doctorates - are flipping burgers at McDonalds because that's the only work they can find?

He's trying to make this a racial issue and I sincerely hope he fails.

I love how he tries to play into our childhoods. No, I didn't think about stimulus checks, no kid ever thinks about stimulus checks. The closest I ever came to being political was when Weekly Reader ran their Presidental election issue and I drew faces over the candidates to make them into women. #glennbeck

I have read this post several times, and I still don't come close to understanding what De Rosa is trying to say. You can't really argue with the fact that this was a bunch of people lining up for a vague expectation of free money. How does "Didja, Pollyana" refute anything? Before you mock the "slave owners" stuff remember that people like Juan Williams are mocked by "progressives" for being on the plantation when they dare question the left-wing orthodoxy about race. And every time I see "progressives," I think, why not just say "the good guys"? I don't think Beck is too formidable a foe, but you have to do better than this. #glennbeck

He was mocking the notion that these people are lining up for help from the government merely because they're shiftless, as opposed to there being nearly 40% unemployment in the area. @Snowspot: Honestly, when it comes to IRL trolls, I think Beck is the type that actually believes everything he says and (subconsciously, at least) doesn't realize how vitriolic most of his statements are, therefore substantially lowering his troll cred.

Ann Coulter, on the other hand, is the HBIC of IRL trolls. She knows exactly what to say to piss people off, and she crafts her statements to do just that. Sure, she probably believes a great deal of what she says -- at least on a fundamental level -- but she also exercises hyperbole (and disguises it as honest, impromptu rhetoric) in the craftiest of ways.

Coulter is like 4chan (which posts child porn because it shocks people, not because it arouses /b/ members), whereas Beck is like a high ranking member of NAMBLA.
