I would contend that the emblem is actually an indication of ownership by the wearer. For example I know that one can "get stomped" for wearing the logo of a motorcycle club, if one is not a member of the "M.C." Accordingly, I suggest that the possessive is not properly punctuated because the patch actually belongs to the society rather than the individual. Therefore, it should read "Pagans M.C.'s" But somebody needs to get Bookish up in this motherfucker.
@saythatscool:
The plural possessive would also work. And for any Pagans reading this, I wish to note that I am merely trying to be servicey and do not want to get stomped.
I was wondering when the Madoff sons would start getting some real paparazzi treatment ... if you caught the quick clip on 60minutes of them getting ambushed on the street by a cameraman, you can clearly note their douchbagginess that would yield some prime confrontation footage.
Throughout most of that article, I was all on the side of the Madoff brothers, picturing them young, with slicked back hair and 80's power suits - basically, kind of menendez-y.
And then their picture ushered in reality.Take them to the cleaners, Picard, make it so.
Of course the main thrust of the segment was less the issue with the Madoff family, and more what happened to the $65 Billion. Because even if you total the amount the family was dipping into the kitty for, it's still only a drop in the bucket compared to the whole.
It should also be noted that the other, far less pleasant aspect of the liquidator's task is to chase ALL the disbursed funds from the scheme. That means even people who were "victims" of the fraud, in that they were counting on an annuity from the fund, and suddenly found themselves without that annuity, if they drew more money from the fund than they put in originally, have technically profited from a criminal activity. So, people who may be facing bankruptcy, because they sunk their entire nest egg into the fund but didn't realize the fund was fraudulent, by virtue of maybe having taken a net gain from the fund over the course of 20 years, are liable for at least some of the gain they accrued.
The liquidators are there to make sure that the remaining funds get disbursed equally amongst all the "victims" of the fund. So, the main point of the piece was that more, and maybe less deserving people, are still going to get screwed.
Hmph. If you check FINRA's BrokerCheck, neither Mark nor Andrew has a single derogatory disclosure item on their records. Further, the CRD filing for Peter only says that SIPC received a claim against Madoff's firm.
Um - excuse me? Receiving stolen property is an effing crime. While I realize that proof is required to charge them, one would think that an email trail or documented presence at certain meetings would be enough to charge them. At a minimum, Peter should get whacked with a "failure to supervise" charge.
Further, this whole "we're not talking to daddy because we're pissed that he lied" thing to bolster their "we knew nothing" defense is absurd. I hope the Feds are surveilling that carefully.
Get each of these asshats a refrigerator box and a styro cup and take everything else. And don't forget Shana, the Lizzie Grubman lookalike deputy compliance officer who is now married to a former SEC attorney. Every one of her David Yurman baubles should be on the auction block, too.
Madoff's sons also took $30 mil in loans from the company, which of course they cannot pay back (nor were they expected to). That is something Irving can easily go after without having to prove fraud - you borrowed the money, you must pay it back.
The $90 mil is a desperate bid to get something to try to pay back the loans.
