Both James von Brunn and Scott Roeder are deranged lunatics who clearly had plans in the works before Obama was even a mainstream political figure. Rushing to score political points with bullshit like this is nearly as disgraceful as the crime itself.
I didn't hear Republicans rushing to connect Adam Gadahn or John Walker to the Democratic party. I didn't hear mainstream Republican rushing to pin the violence that killed two soldiers outside a recruiting station a dozen or so days ago on Keith Olbermann or Chris Matthews, both of whom have called the Iraq war 'illegal' and labeled military leaders as 'war criminals' hell bent on indiscriminately bombing civilian population. And they would have been wrong to do so -- just as wrong as the pundits blaming this nonsense on the GOP.
The fact that the media seems to be on a mission to link any and all extremists to the Republican party is infuriating. I guess the model is to make half of the party look like dimwits incapable of leading and ripe for mockery and the other half as radical politicos one Glenn Beck-rant away from a bloody rampage.

First: You weren't listening. Here's Jonah Goldberg on why the fact that John Walker Lindh's sorry life can be explained by the fact that his dad is gay: [article.nationalreview.com]
Second: There's zero overlap between Islamic militarism and values associated with the left wing. To blame Gadahn and Lindh's descent into jihadism on left-wing values would be insane. Think about it. They went to Aghanistan to fight for Al Quaida because they were followers of Gloria Steinem? Karl Marx? There are left-wing extremists, and they have killed people. Adam Gadahn and John Walker Lindh aren't among them. And the right does routinely blame the left for ELF, ALF, etc.
Third: Richard Nixon was in rough agreement with James von Brunn when it comes to the role of Jews in global affairs and domestic politics. He just disagreed about what to do with them. A staunch anti-Communist Republican president in whose administration Dick Cheney served referred to "cheap kikes" in the Oval Office, complained that the "the IRS is full of Jews," and agreed with Billy Graham that "this stranglehold" the Jews had on the media "has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain." He promised to do something about it if elected to a second term. But holding anti-Semitic attitudes automatically disqualifies you from being properly characterized as on the right wing of the political spectrum. Was Nixon a Republican, or wasn't he?

I've fucking had it with pseudo-intellectuals like Goldberg equating the Nazi Party (which was financed by Preston Bush and Marvin Pierce well into 1943), with American liberalism with absolutely no basis in fact. It's intellectual laziness for people who don't want to face up to the roots of their own movement.
Now...are the right wing talkers telling people to do this shit? No, but they sure are reaching and stoking up the nutjobs with bad wiring and bad chemicals and it would really serve the conservative movement well to figure out what part of their message so appeals to these violent crazies before their movement dries up and blows away.

Rest in peace, Stephen Tyrone Johns.

Not a particularly fair point (especially since he's trying to shift the blame to LEFT-wingers), but one I can understand.
Interesting, though, that angry people haven't been calling your voicemail (I assume) to make the same statement about Scott Roeder.

Before your moral vanity gives you a full on erection, you might at least try getting the facts straight. Nativism is not a conservative idea, the JB Society nutjobs were purged from the movement long ago, etc. Should we pry open the Left's closet, since we're counting crazies?
Andrew is right to be angry. And right to be a little drunk. I'll be the latter very, very soon.

This douche and his colleagues need to figure out if their message is apparently so weak that it will not resonate with anyone, so they can not be held accountable for these acts or that what these extremists are doing is somehow all boiled up after a mere six months of Obama presidency. Because if Im correct, these asshats owned the gov't and the media for the past 8 fucking years.

As if it were impossible for a vicious anti-Semite to dislike the Weekly Standard, notably vocal for their robust support of Israel (as is their prerogative).
So the thinking goes: the murderer cannot be right wing; he does not support Israel; ergo he must be a liberal!
Theis twisted pretzel logic going around today- that the Nazis were really liberals and it's impossible for right-wingers to be violent anti-Semites just makes my head hurt.
And the commentariat of the Internet is flooded with such assertions today.

It is extremely disingenuous of Breitbart to define "right wing" as though it were the mid-century conservatism of William F. Buckley, Jr. Right-wing voters include the people who still think 9/11 is connected to Iraq, who still want to see Obama’s gift certificate, who still think Obama is Muslim, and on and on and on. The right wing base produces domestic terrorists who harass, threaten, and kill people who do not agree with them. The right wing base wants to legislate from the preacher’s pulpit. The right wing base wants to cripple science-teaching schools, even as they run to the doctors when science is needed to save their loved ones. Regardless of what Breitbart likes or wants, that is the right wing today. It is a big tent full of scared, greedy, ignorant, fear-mongering idiots.

The whole notion of his not having a U.S. birth certificate is so absurd that they may as well be asking for a gift certificate.

Isn't that maybe more extremist than defending segregation?
Were the founders right wing extremists?
