First there was that hawk in the East Village, then those turtles at JFK and now a raccoon in a boutique in SoHo. Looks like nature wants to regain a foothold in NYC.

Where there is a city, there are raccoons. Toronto is overrun with them. It's like they PREFER urban living to life in the wild. I've had them open my sliding glass doors and walk right into the house.

I know everyone is going green and getting back to nature, but how in the world did a raccoon invade the urban isle of Manhattan?

@lil red: No idea! I've seen raccoons in Central Park, before, and I think I saw one in Madison Square Park, once. Anyway, I had a daydream and imagined him running away from the circus to work in fashion PR after reading too many Lauren Weisberger books, and that this was the result.

@lil red: They float in on discarded mattresses and oil barrels that break off the Jersey shore. Either that or the raccoon tunnels beneath the Broadway Bridge from Riverdale.

I would pay good money to see a rich person get bitten by a raccoon in a fancy designer shop. What? They'll get rabies shots and be fine.
