In reply to We Don't Want to Hear About Anything Under $50 Billion
Thomas Petters, 53, was convicted on charges of wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering and faces over 100 years in prison, as well as massive fines.

We don't have "Ponzi laws" because why, again?

@Z und Vielpunkt's chick: Is he the one whose wife locked him out of the mansion after the indictment...and as he's banging on the door to get in, he looks up and sees the wife and kids all giving him the finger?

Or was that the car-guy Denny Hecker? I get all these jail-bound Minnesotans mixed up.

In reply to Hal Turner: America's Most Pitiful Man
    Oh, also:

Turner claims he established a friendship with Sean Hannity, on whose program he was a frequent presence. However, when confronted by the New Black Panther Party's Malik Zulu Shabazz in 2008 about his association with Turner (in light of Hannity's scrutiny of Barack Obama's association with Jeremiah Wright), Hannity at first denied knowing Turner, then said he had banned Turner from his radio station. Turner subsequently posted this response on his website: "I was quite disappointed when Sean Hannity at first tried to say he didn't know me. In fact, Sean does know me and we were quite friendly a few years ago."

"A lot of you are probably wondering why Jerry couldn't make it this evening. Well, he's tied up -- and I'm the one who tied him. [laughter] You think I'm joking, but that's the only way I could break into show business -- by hijacking Jerry Langford. [laughter] I'm not kidding. Right now, Jerry Langford is strapped to a bed stand somewhere in the middle of this city. [laughter] Go ahead. Laugh. But the fact is ... I'm here. Tomorrow you'll know I wasn't kidding and you'll think I was crazy. But I figured it this way: better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime!"

That cop has gotten a bum rap. What really happened is that, years ago, the cop was injured in an accident and entered a coma for nearly five years. When he emerged, he had the ability to see a person's future by touching them. After a chance encounter with Chris Long over a decade ago, the cop learned that, if not stopped, Chris Long would go on a horrifying car-kicking spree that would terrorize the nation. This brave man tried to put a stop to that, knowing that his reputation would be forever destroyed in the process. Bravo, Officer. Bravo.

My golly, it's just like Descartes says, nothing can be anything unless it's prefigured in old movies. Remember how hard that Mexican narco (Charlton Heston?) worked to get Cap'n Quinlan (Orson Welles?) on tape for abusing his authority in Touch of Evil? And then, only after the credits were about to roll (SPOILER ALERT) and Quinlan is floating in the bay are we told he was right all along.
