Hi, I just have to correct you on something here..I am the owner of the ConservativeNation channel mentioned in your post- and both myself and GlennBeckDailyClips have been effected by this. So far, I've lost everything going back two weeks. I don't think it's just a liberal thing- and I also don't think it's a Beck/Hannity/O'Reilly thing..they even took clips down I had up of Fox and Friends, Cavuto and even Fox News Sunday..I have to admit I'm a little ticked off right now. That was hard work putting together all that stuff. I feel very out of place amongst all you libs here, but we can definitely all agree that this really sucks. #cyberwarfare

"They were well in their rights to have them taken down..." I'd dispute that. Newsworthy clips from cable news shows fall squarely within my understanding of the fair use doctrine. #cyberwarfare

I've never noticed the embed feature on the FoxNews site before and I've actually looked for it over the years, so maybe the takedown has something to do with them adding that functionality to their player.

Otherwise, I've been somewhat surprised that the fellow has been allowed to upload full episodes of Glenn Beck for so long, especially considering Murdoch's stance on "scraped" content.

Clips will still be readily available at Media Matters and other sites. The commentary on these clips falls well within the boundaries of fair use. #cyberwarfare

John made the mistake of watermarking his clips with his logo. DMCA aside, I think that Fox news might be savvy enough to know that clips of their shows only boost ratings and keep them in the headlines. Adding that logo in there just totally killed it. #cyberwarfare

I'm not going to watch Fox and I'm not going to go to right-wing blogs to watch Fox clips.
I guess I'll just have to "miss out" on all that primo content.

It amuses me to no end that Fox had to affirmatively state that not one of those 150 Fox News clips was newsworthy. #cyberwarfare

The thing about Fox News is that it has risen from being a 5th tier cable news channel to some right wing circle jerk juggernaut. I hadn't even have heard of Fox News before 9/11. It was always MSNBC, CNN and their little rinky dink channels associated with them. Now that Fox News has some sort of power, they're using it. Sometimes a little bit too much. The left wing hasn't done much to counteract it and jeeze louise, has anyone read HuffPo or Mediaite regularly? Their posts give me a brain relaxer through the eyes.

Seriously, Gawker and New York Magazine are the only blogs that even feature politics that aren't total snoozefests.

I get that Fox News has now gone full retard in removing clips, but although they are full of asshats (except for Shep Smith) they have a right to remove them.

But yeah, fuck Fox News. #cyberwarfare

I work for a content provider (not Fox or News Corp.) and have filed many DMCA claims against John. The man spends his day uploading other people's content to YouTube with his logo embedded on it. I cringe every time I see bloggers use his stuff.

He's a thief and Fox is right to hit him upside the head with this. #cyberwarfare

    1. Fox News has its own YouTube channel. If they allow embedding (which they may not), then it's pretty trivial to link to their original videos and just highlight the relevant segments (I'm thinking of splicd.com, but YouTube may have that functionality built into it now too).

    2. What are the legal ramifications of hosting these videos on an offshore server? #cyberwarfare

Oh no! Liberal blogs will have to do something else besides make fun of the idiots on Fox News? What will they do now? Actually blog about and spread liberal ideas, instead of continually calling out idiots everyone with half a brain realizes is an idiot already?

The Democrats will surely lose the next election because of this! #cyberwarfare
