    I know people involved in Delaware government and politics; we couldn’t believe when this came out in the press a couple weeks ago. I am sure that the woman responsible for this memo will be horrified to see that it made its way to Gawker. As I recall, there was a particularly funny one on the use of the N-word:


    The "N" word

    You may have heard comedians or African

    Americans use the word "nigger" casually.

    It is never, ever acceptable to use this word

    in any context. You are asking for trouble;

    leave this one alone.

    I suppose they mean well, but they're giving people ideas. At Carleton University I once saw a well-intentioned poster designed to sensitize people to slurs against gays and I discovered that there were far more epithets out there than I realized.


    And they've hurtfully exluded the hipster grifter community.

    Actually, if you read a little further you'd see that the Delaware Department of Transportation also frowns upon the use use of the word 'idiot' as a derogatory description of those with differently-abled intellects. (Many of whom, as it happens, work for the Delaware Department of Transportation.)
