Still a good read and definitely worth a few minutes, but one also has to consider that though his point might have some kind of (fantasy?) relationship with the originals, they still make Nancy Drews today.
(Though my daughter prefers the old ones because a lot of the new books are crap... hmmm?)

We actually saw those costumes on sale at Party City, and I'm pleased to say my 9-year-old walked right by them and picked a Cleopatra costume instead without my intervention at all.

Now, I read articles talking about the "controversy" of little girls in bikinis. Seriously? I thought one of the advantages of being a kid was being able to dress however you wanted without some double meaning being attached to it.
