I cannot summon any of the 3 Holy S's (snark, snippiness, or sarcasm) where Cesar is concerned. I have a happy pack of 3 rescued border collies thanks to His teachings. I believe!!!!
@Scullery_Maid: border collies. Love. Love. They are not dogs you understand. They are little humans. They require the very best care--and I'm sure they are in good hands with you. Thanks for rescuing...not to dull up this thread.
As a magazine with a light and interesting topic AND cute pics, without any beauty tips and ugly expensive clothes, I would pick it up at my dentist's office but I don't know if I'd buy it.
I love me some Dog Whisperer, but what the Pinkett-Smith rottweilers might have had to do to fix that marriage is not a can of worms to open in public.
I was not a believer in the whole animal whispering thing until I saw Cesaar. The guy really seems to be some sort of Ambassador or emissary between canines and human beings. Curiously, it was Jada Pinkett who helped make him famous. I'm just saying.
Ok, so, why does my dog serpentine and circle around sniffing frenetically, trying to find the perfect spot to poop, every single time? What possible difference could there be between this spot here, or that spot over there? It's not like she's avoiding or attracted to spots where other dogs have been; I've tested this.
Actually, I'd read this over US or any of those other ridiculous paparazzi mags any day. Dogs are just the best, and more fun than many people I know. And Cesar is a pragmatist, guiding people to give their dogs responsibility and purpose and not treat them like dress-up dolls ("uh, really Jada, your dog doesn't give a shit about scientology, how about just taking him for a walk?")
@Banjo-Sea Kitten: Correct. He is married. He is also one of the only people on middle of the road TV to feature gay married couples and refer to them as spouses. I give him props for that.
@snugbug: Cesar has kids too, despite the bi-vibe. They come on the show sometimes to show how well he's mastered "trouble dogs (that he'd trust them around his kid)." Cesar is, I believe, just in touch with his feminine and masculine side. That's what may come off as a bit swish.
@RonMwangaguhunga: Good way to put it. I really don't think he's gay, though I wish he'd experiment with me should he decide he needs to try it. I have seen every one of his shows just because I find him so adorable -- I only got a dog this spring!
I am really scared to learn what Sandra Lee is cooking. But that is not because it has to do with dogs. I'm always scared to learn what Sandra Lee is cooking...if you want to call it cooking.
@DahlELama: yeah, while there are some good owners out there, overall that whole trend of the purse dog sickens me. Many of those poor little babies don't get walked or fed.
@Banjo-Sea Kitten: That reminds me of the episode where he is helping this very nellie gay couple with their teacup chihuahua. He asks why they never take if for a walk, and the answer is, "Hello! There's a car."
@bytememehard: oh dear god. Part of me is horrified and part of me just LOL'd at that comment and heard the voice of Anthony (Mario Cantone) from Sex And the City in my head!
[Shamelessness ahead] Cesar is cute as a button IRL. And sweet. I've had the pleasure of being on a dog rescue mission with him in Mexico along with his fabulous producers and crew.
This is all for the good. Bring us your celebrities and their pets and show us how it's done. Yay. Next to Germany, the U.S. is one of the better places on the globe for pets. (We have a long way to go yet on factory farming, however)
Must say though, as much as I enjoy Cesar's show, I still don't really know how his dog psychology system works. Baffles me to this day. My dogs have their own system, that's for sure.

Sienna Miller! 10/19/09. Outside APC on Mercy St Soho. Walking her dog, dressed smart casual. She was small and pretty and very normal looking.

I LOVE episodes when his family helps with a problem dog! His wife and children are almost as adorable as Daddy the Pit Bull.
