    I would like to also add that if the morons responsible for poor business decisions like the ones "executed" at eBay were fired immediately, instead of the repercussions raining down on the rank and file, more companies might be run in a more proper manner.

    It's always the ones with the most to lose that have to pay the price for poor management.

    I used to love eBay (in the early days) but it's become increasingly horrible and the shipping rates are outrageous. So sad.

    @BxgrlJeri: Ebay has cut down on that some in the last year. That shipping rate deal is a total scam. $50 for that Ipod and $100.00 for shipping. Basically it is a trap for the unwary. Just don't deal with those sellers.

    They are trying to become Amazon, and they can't. When it comes to buying used/refurbished goods, I go to Amazon, not Ebay. Not once have I had a bad experience with an Amazon retailer/reseller. Ebay is another story. I understand change is inevitable, but I really grieve Ebay's move away from auctions, or more specifically, small-time auction-based sellers who they don't value as much as the mega-sellers. I've been an Ebay member for almost 10 years and have found myself using them less and less as time goes by because there are fewer wonderful, affordable finds, with reasoanble shipping, like in the old days.

    It's mind blowing how poorly eBay is run, first with with Meg Whitman now with this guy.

    eBay should be thriving in a recession: people selling their excess crap to make extra money, people buying used crap to save money. eBay should be seeing a rise in transactions and, hence, a rise in profits.

    But instead its tanking. Spend a little money on a conflict-resolution department if that's a problem.

    If this were Japan, Whitman would do the honorable thing and jump out a window.

    But eBay's an American company, so instead she's running for governor of California.

    Ryan, I think your last paragraph is spot-on. At the very least, Donahoe could have been less brazen in the way he explained eBay's shift of focus. It's understandable that a company may diversify as it grows (and especially as it acquires other companies that don't "fit the mold," of the parent), but I think the difference here is that eBay is forcing this diversification, rather than allowing it to happen naturally.

    It's almost as though eBay is purposefully positioning itself for failure. Why else would a company willfully spit in the faces of their customers (sellers)? From Meg Whitman on to this whack job, the company has focused solely on short-term profit while ignoring the vast potential for long-term success. Really sad to see such an awesome company be flushed down the toilet.

    Is her "helping" John McCain last year suppose to be a blue ribbon item on her CV? Don't quote me on this but I don't think McCain's campaign fared too well in the end did it?
    I'm going to start putting every job that I applied but never received an offer on my CV from now on.
