    The fact of the matter is that illegal immigrant whites built this country through the use of slavery, persecution, oppression and genocide. So in good faith, we own it. Now get out other immigrants looking to better your lives in a country dedicated to the belief that "all-men" are created equal.

    When people talk about the dangerous racist rhetoric floating around as of late and how afraid they are of what riled up Real 'Mericans with a false sense of victimhood might "do," the convo tends to jump to fear for the POTUS.

    But this? This is the kind of thing my Not-Protected-By-The-Secret-Service black ass worries about and knows is far more likely.

    I LOVE race-blind racists. My cousin ran into one at the grocery store. It was after the September 11th attacks when there was a lot of anti-arab/muslim/middle east sentiment going around.

    My cousin was with her 2-year-old daughter looking at cans of soup when some guy came up to her and asked, "Why don't you and your like go back to your own country?" My cousin, who was bent down, stood straight up, looked him dead in the eye and said, "I'm American Indian, you son-of-a-bitch." The guy froze then mumbled some sort of apology and walked away.

    @johnny_carsick: I really wish I could have seen the look on his face. I usually get the, "Soooo, where are you/your family from? Originally?" When I keep repeating "America" (because they keep asking the same question but posed differently), they get a confused look on their faces, as if they can't imagine anyone being indigenous to North America. I guess I didn't get the memo that we all died back in the 1870's.

    @Fry_Bread_Power: I was at a bar in Brooklyn when some drunk local guy goes on the ol' gentrification rant at me and my girlfriend, culminating in "you fucking newbies should go back where you came from."
    My girlfriend, who is very clearly Native, looks at the guy, and says "I'd like to. But I'm a Montauket, and we got priced out of the Hamptons."
