    Did anyone else actually read the New York City voter guide? It is hilarious. Between the candidate running for mayor on the Rent Is Too Damn High platform, the handful of college kids running so they can put something on their application to intern in Chuck Schumer's office, the libertarian who wants to abolish the office of comptroller if he's elected to it, and all the socialists, it's the most entertaining thing I've read all month.

    @echopark: You mean we are all going to routed once again by the Republican revised-Contract with America wherein they promise to restore an era of American prosperity buttressed by "good American values" but actually spend the next decade lurking in bathrooms tapping their feet in Morse code, flirting with underage boys over IM and getting rid of regulations that limit exploitation of the poorer 99.99% of the country, the environment and foreign populations? That would suck.

    @i'm_a_bottle: I'm currently drafting a new Contract with America as we speak. Unfortunetly, still being heavily influnced by the Bush years and its emphseis on secrecy, we will not be able to share this contract with the country.


    Seriously, though, (barring some unforseen circumstance whereby David Cameron turns out to actually be an American citizen) the democrats have ABSOLUTELY nothing to fear from the Republicans for some time. We are busy with our navel gazing, which will be followed by brutal in-house fighting. Then, if in 2010 Sarah Palin is still in charge, we will repeat the same cycle of lose, pout and fight until she is eventually sent into the Alaskan wilds with only rifle and a hunting knife.

    @Iceland_Spar: I think with the inability of Detroit to build fuel efficient cars a lot of Americans would vote Republican if they thought they were receiving a nice Cinquecento in exchange.

    @i'm_a_bottle: measures will have to be taken to ensure the illegal immigrant hordes don't accidently appear in a puppy cam of course, but I think that is possible. And should the unthinkable ever happen, we will just cut the puppy cam feed and run pictures of lolcats until the problem is solved.
