Equinox is so expensive because the gyms are spacious, superclean, trendily decorated and filled with plenty of the latest equipment. There is no such thing as a time limit on cardio machines and you can use free clean towels like Kleenex (although signs encourage you to "be green"). The staff at every gym is courteous and professional as you would expect when you're paying $170 a month. They have countless free classes for members. If you go on a regular basis it's absolutely worth it. The only downside is that some of the clubs get really crowded at night and some of the members can be insufferably entitled and snotty (I'm a glittering exception). I'm told they give discounts to models through their agencies, so lately there had been an influx of the young hot and rude. But then, a lot of people in NYC find that appealing.

Pardon the off-tread remark, but I don't know where else to put this comment:

Is that Obama/Gates/Crowley beer-off being televised, and are you guys gonna live-blog it?

The White House PR release said it'd unfold "in front of the Oval Office," ie, not behind closed doors. I'd appreciate some illumination, too lazy to Google this sh*t up.

Craig Walker, a lawyer from Brooklyn, said he "had no idea" that the class [called "Knockout Brides"] was geared toward brides.

HA!

One of two things happened here, both of which question Craig's mental state:

1) He showed up with gloves and was ready to duke it out with pre-nuptialed women.
2) He thought it would be just him and very, very, pretty, but yet unavailable women who were amazingly all planning for the same event. Coinkidink!

I'm thinking the Craigster may need to be watched during Aerobics With an Attitude, that whole "drag queen" thing could be confusing.

god I hate working for a dying industry, I should have listened to my father when he told me journalists were scum and to follow the family trade and become a doctor. Weirdly I actually have more work than usual at the moment, although that will change as the newly unemployed snaffle my freelance gigs. The only answer is to drink. Copiously.
