The NEW is very big and very bright, but the ALL is very small and very muted. It's as if they lost the heart to try to sell this ALL-NEW thing right before deadline.

You mean old things like, say, magazines, and opposed to the internet?

It's hard to get excited about All New things when nobody can afford them anymore. They should do an All Cheap Shit issue; it would fly off the shelves! Into browsing hands, because no one can afford to pay for magazines anymore either, but still.

I still prefer reading magazines in the doctor's office where I can be assured it's all old.

Someone should do an all-nu issue, featuring items that fit the many variations of that word.
Nu? Can you believe that Bernie Madoff?
Nu? When is the Second Avenue Subway going to be finished already?
    Congress is at it again--Nu?

    Two quotations come to mind:

"There is no new thing under the thing"

    and

"Of the making of books there is no end."

King Solomon was the first media critic.

@Smitros: I've always liked I don't think there's anything in that black bag for me, which Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz. I'm trying to decide if it's relevant or if maybe I should switch to something less caffeinated.

    @Private Hangnail:

I think the quotation is relevant but I am not yet caffeinated enough to, as they say in academia, unpack it.

'Saggy and full of holes' is the new 'New'. That's what I tell my wife when she says I need to get new underwear.

Yes, I'll take something old that doesn't suck much, thanks!

Like my 1970 VW bug. That would be fine; may I have it back, please?

@htotheomo: Oh, yes: RUST. There was a floor in the back the size of a dinner plate from battery acid.

I know we are not on Jalopnik, but here goes: I went through a puddle once and the sheer force of the water lifted my back seat up and deposited it perpendicular!

    Good times.

I think a second aspect of reduced revenues is because the quality of mainstream music is declining....or maybe I'm just getting old.

Enh, people aren't that into 'paying for stuff' they feel isn't fairly priced, when they can avoid it. This trend will get worse and worse, like Kurt Loder and them used to say back in the Napster days.

I think getting rid of DRM at iTunes might help, since the 'business model' (referring to people actually willing to pay) is so obvious going in that direction.

@reckoner71: I like the video and the track. This is the only song I requested during my New Year celebration, the Echo Park dj looked at me like I was a damn fool. "He is the one who is foolish," I thought to myself.
