Incidentally, I much prefer the pictures or depictions of executions from the days of yore. They're just so exciting! The Impostors reference was imaginative but it just didn't have the same effect as the traditional image of a good old-fashioned execution. Just sayin.
I think it is fun to try to figure out AD's latest incarnation. I suspect that the original AD is a beloved original commenter who is unhappy with the direction of this site.
@BlackCoffeeInBed: Oh, why look who it is? I appreciate that you're tried really hard to use your capital letters. But your voice is -- for better or worse -- distinct. Also, the substance of your comments betrays you every time.
@BlackCoffeeInBed: As well you should. It has become easy: See an AD-like comment; click on the commenter; and find the same old crap. I am never wrong about this, and I don't falsely accuse.
Whoa, and hello! Back from the Staff "Holiday" part, take-out Indian food (red dot, not feather) and lots of wine:
Dear Baby Jesus,
Please and thank you for sparing me, but I pray for my friend Minsley Tortimer, whomever (whoever?) that may be. And that all expenses paid trip to the Lorenza Medeci vineyard/hotel in Chianti? That's still good, right?
We get to go home now, no pink slips, although a friend of mine in NYC was laid off yesterday. "They do it on a Thursday now so they can check your computer and files on Friday and shut the books."
Hey Richard, for the record: "Minsley Tortimer" was definitely American Dreamer. "Glitter Panda" was definitely the commenter formerly known as Minsely Tortimer (the real one).
I have to say I'm disappointed with the execution of iplaudius, since he/she was trying to do a public service by alerting folks that the person posing as "Minseley Tortimer" was an imposter. Having been victimized myself by the same "commenter identity theft" by American Dreamer, I appreciate iplaudius's motives in doing that. I'm sorry to see him/her go.
But the "blinky tag" is irritating. I can't argue with you there.
(Also, I miss the real Minsely. I hope she comes back under a new name and doesn't reveal her true identity this time.)
Why must people come here to pick fights with other commenters when there are plenty of complete assholes being covered in the posts who deserve our scorn?
That's a rhetorical question. Not picking a fight.
@Clarence Rosario: Seriously. Not to be all elitist, but, um, I am an elitist. It's getting harder and harder to wade through the trolls to find the funny.
Good Christ. What the hell happened in there? It was like some sort of retarded acid trip. I felt like someone had touched me repeatedly in the bad way when I left that thread. Good riddance to it all. I'll miss Minsley, but that whole thing was crikey insane. DON'T ANYONE EVER DO THAT AGAIN.
@Imposters et al: I am also slightly perturbed by the need to sully a classic 80's film starring Demi Moore and the illustrious Rob Lowe in attempts to illustrate the apparent breakdown in commenter sanity that occurred last evening. For shame, doppelgangers, at your continued influence!
I've obvs been out of the loop, but to those who are lamenting the execution of some of their fave commenters, I'll say "fret not kiddies". Some of the best have been killed off in the past but have returned from the dead, just like Gawkers' very own Jesus.
Now I celebrate the reincarnation of In Other News instead of Easter. Win - win, no?
Dear, iPlaudius, thank you for dying for our sins. See you over at that other place we chatted about this week.
But also thanks to Richard for the butt slap these other brats needed. Bring It On/American Dreamer is amusing to some but he/she/it has been bringing a lot of hate as of late. I am immune to name calling--I'm just too old and mean--but it was bringing the vibe down.
