    WAIT, noooooo. Today is the last day of the month. Not the 30th. I feel like that idiot girl in the movies who runs traffic lights and dodges motorcycles and races to the airport, just in time to see the plane taxiing to the runway.


    But I have a feeling that Sheila probably bought a round trip ticket and we'll shortly be celebrating her brilliance in new endeavors. We'll miss you until then, send us postcards from the Holiday, and you know who to call if you need bail money, right?

    That's not their "take home pay", sweetie, but rather adjusted income with benefits and pension.


    Has no one at Gawker ever been fired before? It's not the end of the universe.

    So long for now Sheila. I really don't see where Gawker will find another writer who will get herself arrested for doing as she pleased with beer in public and then share the whole experience with poignancy and grace, but hey, that's just me. There won't be another like Sheila any time soon.


    You killed it here and Denton and his mini-me are not on the smart side in letting you go. But as i said in the post where your axing was announced, the new style Gawker is not so interesting me, editorially speaking.


    But it's their loss! And better for you in the long run.

    Sheila, we had some great fun together, didn't we? I mean, we had some fun!


    You were a large part of the reason I stuck around after the loss of Choire/Balk/Stein. The jail post was one of my favorites, but really, there is such a great body of work on here. You found your Gawker voice early and used it often and it will be so sorely missed in the new Gawker.


    Don't be a stranger and stay in touch. First five drinks are on me, next time I am in NYC. Take care of you.
