You forgot Dexter, even though I don't get Showtime and have to wait for the entire season to come out on DVD otherwise my boyfriend will dismember me a la the Icetruck Killer if he catches me watching it online.
Recession tip: Don't have the Mad Men season 2 dvd? Didn't record today's marathon? Check your cable system's On Demand guides. Cablevision, for one, has all 13 episodes available . . . on demand
@naugahydeinplainsight: Much of the joy in watching Mad Men on DVD is Matt Weiner's commentary for each episode. It's really fascinating and worth shelling out the bucks for the DVD or at least a Netflix rental (And I hate that a person saying he likes Mad Men, much less to the nerdy lengths of listening to the DVD commentary for each episode, makes one sound like a prententious prig. But it's THAT good, really!!!)
I'm not usually one for sitcoms, but "Hank," starring Kelsey Grammer, doesn't look awful. I'm willing to give him a pilot episode's chance, anyway. Plus, the show's site describes his performance as "blustery," which is my favorite adjective.
@muppet_baby: Ooh I'm excited to hear that. I'll watch anything Kelsey Grammer does, up to and including watching the entire series of Back To You. That man should be on TV always.
Dear Everyone,
Do yourself a favor and watch Skins on BBC America. Puts Gossip Girl to shame. Plus, it started last Thursday! Seasons 1 and 2 available on DVD. No, I do not work for them, just a pathetic fan.
@EleanorRigby: But please, do yourself a favour and get a little drunk before you start to watch Season 2 episodes (it will all make much more sense), and please don't watch Season 3.
I maintain that this is not a conservative-leaning show.
The presidents in the first several seasons were liberal Democrats. Two of them were black! Both were portrayed as strong leaders who were stabbed in the back. The first Republican president on the show turned out to be a treasonous disaster.
This is not a show that embraces conservatism as an ideology. It doesn't even embrace torture. The whole point of Jack's character is that the things he does makes himself a tortured soul.
Remember that episode where the producers flew down to the Dominican Republic with Jack and had a solid 72 hour fuck sesh. O no wait that wasn't Jack Bauer it was Rush Limbaugh.
@bellesouth: I was on pins and needles in Season One until Kim's car rolled off the precipice and Teri Bauer fainted at the sight, only to wake up having forgotten her whole identity along with the crucial information Jack needed to save the day. It was sub-Guiding Light storytelling.
Aw, the wingnuts had their time in the sun...and so did Jack Bauer and the uber-Bushie-nutjob creator of 24. See ya boys! Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
@SinisterRouge: Bush still has two months beyond the election to further screw us all and then pardon himself into untouchability. Don't count him out yet.
