How is it that this is the biggest summer box office ever and the only movie I'm glad I paid to see was Ponyo?

A minor correction. Sony is NOT ripping up the Raimi-directed franchise. Spiderman 4&5 are being written right now, Raimi is supervising the scripting, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten "Snaggletooth" Dunst are confirmed to be returning.

Also, Fox is kicking a new Fantastic Four into development more as a fuck-you to Disney than anything else. Basically, to retain their infinite license on the property they have to keep making films with it, otherwise they have to return the property.

Fox to reboot Fantastic Four: Sure the film series is only a decade or so old...

Or, more like four years. The first Fantastic Four film came out in 2005. Not sure where ten years is coming from.

A decade or so? If you're including the Roger Corman version that was never released. Otherwise, the first of the Fantastic Four series is barely 5 years old.

While we're rebooting...Nights in Rodanthe could use an upgrade, and this time even older with Robert Redford and Kathy Bates.

PLEASE if they're going to reboot FF - make the Silver Surfer movie that should have been made (The love story with Shalla Bal and first rebellion against Galactus).

You mean like they rebooted The Hulk...to make only as much money as the first to the same lackluster reviews?
