@MisterHippity: ugh, the jury is still out on that (i mean, not literally, since the case was dropped but you know what i mean) and as my friend said the other day, no monster is made without a creator. the people who use this as an opportunity to rant about the civil suit brought against him instead of reflecting upon the horrors of child abuse as a cycle (if you must be serious about this) are gross as far as i'm concerned.

@allyzay: I haven't heard ANYTHING about it since he died. It's like suddenly the whole world is pretending it never happened now. It's bizarre.

The fact that he got into bed with little boys is established fact. He admitted as much on the TV documentary. And several came forward and said he molested him. It's also established fact that he paid huge chunks of money to several of these accusers in exchange for their silence.

Look, I understand why it's nice to avoid speaking ill of the dead. But jesus christ -- we're talking about child molestation here. Let's at least not suddenly pretend that none of that shit ever happened.

@Pareene: That's a really dumb statement from someone who doesn't generally make dumb statements. Ezra Pound was the Fascist, not Eliot. Eliot was slightly anti-semitic, and sympathized with Fascism only occasionally, and only in the idea that the German state presented itself as reaching towards a loftier human spirit. But he wasn't really an actual Fascist government sympathizer. He was more of an aesthetic poseur.

Also, having an unpopular political philosophy is NOT ANYTHING THE SAME AS MOLESTING CHILDREN, Pareene. You can think whatever the fuck you like. That's not a crime. It only becomes a crime when you act on it.

One lone, retarded voice in the night for Farrah: She exploded on the scene as suddenly as the hormones in my adolescent body. Her passing makes me feel older, sadder. She was a beauty. MJ's passing makes me go, "oh yeah, he was kind of dead already." I know I'm alone in this. But still.

When I left the office yesterday, I thought that I should listen to a Michael Jackson song on my iPod while I walked to the bus. But it turned out that my only options were two Jackson 5 songs from the Now and Then soundtrack.
