Be prepared for O'Reilly's self-congratulatory broadcast whenever Moyers dies (hopefully many years hence), when he takes credit for having convinced God to kill him.
I don't doubt Bill. I know for a fact that by having a bagel for breakfast - rather than my customary granola - the NASDAQ has gone down 11.68. I want to apologize to investors out there, and promise to eat right tomorrow.
"He stopped being a journalist and became an advocate...an evangelist." Bernie is confusing journalist with corporate stenographer. The latter is what he's surrounded by everyday and Bill Moyers' earnestness (which I will miss tremendously) just throws him for a loop.
And this was the clip where Moyers came off badly?? Love the way he patronizes Watters with that little love tap on the cheek (be a good boy, now) and defangs Watters and O'Reilly simultaneously by inviting Jesse on his show -- since Bill-O won't man up. HA!
Is Goldberg posing as the ultimate postmodern ironist when he says, "...(Moyers) stopped being a journalist and started being an advocate," or is he just that genuinely clueless?
@naugahydeinplainsight: Next thing you know, Chuck Norris will say of Jean-Claude Van Damme, "If you watch his movies closely, you'll see he's less a thespian and more a martial artist."
@AzureTexan: He, (Goldberg) is disingenuously clueless.
The interviewer in the second clip needs to find a different line of work. "Why don't you come on Bill's show?" seems to be the only question he can ask. I love that he uses Moyer as validation of his credentials as a journalist. "Mr Moyers just called me one". Nah nah nah so's your old lady.
Also gives an outstanding definition of slinking away.
O'Reilly is unimaginably reprehensible. First of all, in his cozy middlebrow way, Moyers has done more to serve honest debate of the big issues than O'Reilly ever has. And what is Fox but journalists who have crossed over the line into advocacy? Oh, wait: to say that O'Reilly was ever a journalist is a compliment to him and an insult to journalists.
