Why does she have to go and ruin a good thing? Those episodes of SVU where they had to race against the clock to get a sexual assault conviction in where some of the most exciting.
Fabulous, gallant lady. Superb speaker, with a great verbal style that's never dull, and that you sense is an innate talent of hers. A true New Yorker, wish I knew her. Brava.
@Botswana Meat Commission FC: She is in the Real Rack Club, I am the recording secretary of aforementioned. Now can you guess who is the president, VP, etc.?
@BookishLookish: And the best part? Aside from the blackish-red fingernail polish? As one may easily discern, underneath that paper-thin turtleneck, there are practically flying buttresses supporting those puppies. Imagine what happens when things get rough and the brassiere comes off?
Populist hero alert: She seems like she'd make a good no-nonsense aunt whose house you can go over to after a breakup and hear some straight talk about how you were too good for him while sitting on her plastic-covered sofa with your hair in curlers, drinking Tang and receiving a mani-pedi, all while watching The City or someshit on TV. She hates The City, 'natch, but will make an exception when her favorite niece is sad. There would probably also be shake n' bake involved.
Wow--such plain-spoken eloquence. To be able to watch a representative actually be able to speak extemporaneously and do it with conviction, insight, and compassion is almost jarring. No cringe-inducing malaprops, no stumbling, mumbling or grumbling, no baseline belief that the person speaking doesn't mean a word of what they are saying.
Representative Savino gets my vote for whatever it is she is running for.
@TheSometimesWhy: This is the very definition of a hard working, intelligent and assertive PERSON. I love this woman and until today had heard very little of her.
@pheiticeira: Isn't it odd (and more than a little disturbing) that we hear so little of the people who are out there, day in and day out, doing their jobs with pride, efficacy, and selflessness? Better that we obsess over professional athletes, rap stars, reality TV, and the swamp they inhabit.
The old maxim about what you focus on tends to grow has never rung more true...
"So if there's anything wrong with the sanctity of marriage in America, it comes from those of us who have the privilege and the right and have abused it for decades."
That ending made me want to cry and cheer at the same time.

Also love the end where she slips in a quick "I vote 'ay'" before sitting down. WORK.
