    Am I missing something? A magazine that can lay off 50 editors and still have anyone left seems like it might have been overstaffed.
    Also, it's hard to feel bad for laid off rich and upper upper middle class people. #forbes

    @deva14: Almost everyone I've worked with in the business is pulling down mid- to upper-mid five figures, with the tip-top bosses maybe nudging into six. (That was before the Crash; I will be surprised if my next editorial job pays in the 50s, down from 80.)

    Granted, my experience is West Coast, niche business journalism, but still... #forbes

    @quotidian: Migrant workers are shaking because those displaced editors are going to vying for shrinking domestic labor jobs.
    It sure is terrible when the old economy dies- I'm sure there is no future other than to cater to old money on an old platform as it dies off.
    There is still a lot of fat in our economy. I meet people all the time with bullshit jobs that shouldn't exist with big salaries while real people work 3 jobs and struggle.
    stupid is as stupid does
    So this is an opportunity, this is cleaning up the system. this is healthcare reform.

    @deva14: FORBES MAGAZINE staffers are rich compared to me and Cynical Media Byatches' west coast nichers. If you write for Forbes and you don't have money, or family money, you have no credibility. #forbes

    @Flippyjack: not true about Forbes, or most other b-books. And you missed quotidian's original point: Those displaced editors and other "old money" (ahem) aren't going to be stealing domestic labor/migrant jobs. They'll no longer have the income to buy the strawberries migrants workers pick, or have their house cleaned by the person who has two other jobs and still struggles, or be regular customers of the service industry where minimum-wagers work. Middle/upper classes getting fucked means everyone else'll get fucked, too. #forbes

    @Flippyjack: Alot of those editors are not upper middle class, I worked for Forbes 3 years ago and they pay the top 1% well and everyone else made shit wages. Capitalist tool bags until the end... #forbes

    "Maintain...deepening...making shifts..." In other words, those who remain will be working longer, harder, and maybe for less pay. And while we cut expenses, we will be telling our advertisers to spend more. To do that, we must ask each member of our sales team to become a Bizarro as of Wednesday. Me share your happiness.
