I don't think we get the French relationship with food. To us McDonald's is a symbol of something. To them it's just another eating option. I went to a restaurant in Paris and in loud English ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke just to see the waiter's reaction. I actually made a French man laugh.

The article referred to a gentleman eating at a cafe on "Rivoli Street." Is that anywhere near Champs Elysees Avenue or the famous St. Michael Blvd. in the Latin Quarter?
