Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue Takes a Stab at Diversity

After getting some flack for a rather homogenous cover of white actresses last year, Vanity Fair's new Hollywood issue is mixing things up. There are 1.5 African-Americans on the cover! That's up from .25 African-Americans last year.
What's Opening in Theaters Today
Friday means movies are opening! Though dreary January is a bleak time for cinema, there are a few prospects opening today. There's a crazy, mean old witch, plus some movies that don't star Gwyneth Paltrow.
The Western Shall Rise Again
Now that True Grit is a bona fide smash hit, we can expect to see a lot more Westerns in the future. We cannot, however, expect to see a lot more Fockers movies. Those are probably done.
Country Strong: Gwyneth Gets Gritty
Well, sorta gritty. Feel good movie costarring Tim McGraw gritty, at least. Here's the trailer for Paltrow's sappy-lookin' country drama about a washed-up, rehab-sprung country singer (Jo Dee Messina?) trying to pick herself up and be rich and famous again.
