The news weekly magazines are not going to survive the current internet technology. It is just a matter of when they shut down the print magazine.

Time units routinely dump staff in October, as they're calculating bonuses for eligible managers and reviewing budgets for the next year. They like to cull admin ranks to get rid of $50K secretaries (who've been there for 20 yrs. and get all the work done), anyone who's near 40 and/or unattractive.

Not to put too fine a point on it, Ryan, but I would like to suggest that being laid off is a "shave" when it happens to someone else, and a fucking "amputation" of your most precious bodily parts when it happens to one's self.

More centralization on the way; add in the mix some workers' self-management and the next thing you know, the Times will endorse the Nonaligned movement.
